Educator Bio / Testimonals

“She has so much real-world experience that she brings to the table. And she is exceedingly patient…which is the mark of a truly great teacher. And while she has chops to spare, she never lords it over you. She inspires you to step up your game!” – L.B.

Brittany Frompovich is a multi-instrumentalist (double bass, electric bass, cello and guitar), clinician, performer, and music educator teaching students locally from Richmond to Northern Virginia…and online to students all over the world…for over 28 years. Her DIY approach to her music career has taken her across the country to performances and clinics in seventeen states. The venues have ranged from intimate house concert events all the way to appearances at NAMM shows, the Musician’s Institute in Los Angeles, and Gerald Veasley’s Bass BootCamp in Philadelphia. She graduated from Bloomsburg University with a dual major in Bass and Audio Recording. One of her strengths is her versatility as a working musician; moving with ease from working in the pit of a musical to getting onstage with a rock band, conducting an orchestra, performing solo at a house concert, leading group classes, or giving a clinic.

Ms. Frompovich is an exceptional and gifted teacher; her students wholeheartedly recommending her to potential students without reservation. She uses her versatile background and experience to help her students explore and tap into their potential. She works with them to create individualized paths of study to help them identify and attain their goals.

She teaches one-on-one lessons and runs several educational music groups in other studios, teaches online lessons, runs her own private studio, and is an adjunct professor at the University of Mary Washington. She has spearheaded regional efforts including the Virginia Bass Forum and Rock for Strings (sponsored by national organization NS Design). These groups have empowered students to experience music on small and great stages alike, including featured performances to thousands of attendees at Celebrate Virginia Live.

When COVID-19 hit, she made an extraordinary effort to teach students virtually, even hosting a student-focused virtual open mic with featured professional artists every week. She is sponsored by high-level bass companies, is a regularly featured artist at NAMM, and maintains a high-level regional performance schedule (outside of COVID). Brittany has an unmatched dedication to her students’ artistic, professional, and personal growth through music study. Undoubtedly she has changed the lives of hundreds over the years, from central Virginia to Northern Virginia, DC, and Maryland. She has taught online students all over the United States and in other countries…even as far away as New Zealand.

Brittany successfully teaches both recreational music makers and serious students who are pursuing their own careers in music. To quote her students;

“Brittany is an amazing teacher who knows what you need and gets you there with focus and heart. If you are serious about music on any level, she will stretch you and help you on your path and will do so with amazing generosity of spirit. As her student, I know this first hand. Professional, competent, friendly, civically minded, generous, astute, genuine, authentic, supportive, and good-humored. No Bull, she’s the real deal. No side job here; as a teacher and musician, music is her life! She is a true and much-needed representative of & for the arts & music professions. Those who know her & benefit from her teaching and friendship are lucky indeed.” – R. M.

“Brittany’s drive to develop aspiring musicians extends far beyond straight musical instruction and explores areas such as instrument repair, stagecraft, best practices for gigging, and more. Brittany is one of a kind, and anyone working with her ought to consider him or herself very fortunate, indeed!” – E. H.
