The first time at GVBBC! Some photos from that first weekend…many thanks to Charles Ford for these pics.
I’ve just successfully finished my first Groove Exam. At the Groove Exam you can play whatever you want, but they do ask that it be something you learned at camp. So for my Groove Exam, I opted to complete an exercise given during a private lesson with Bryan Beller. The song I used for the exercise was a chord melody version of Wonderful World. Gerald Veasley got the entire camp singing along at the end of each verse. Much respect to Richard Waller III back there on drums!
The women of Bass Bootcamp. The tall redhead to my right was my stand partner in college. She was in high school back then! We ran into each other at Bootcamp after almost 14 years of no contact. Much joy in that moment! To my right is my student and friend, Kira Hendrickson. She was amazing at her Groove Exam, playing a rocking version of Rush’s Tom Sawyer.
Gerald has me come up to help demo chords in his chords for bass class.
Trying to be studious. I’ve gotten a ton of inspiration and ideas out of every single camp, and I’m usually jotting them down so I can follow up on them later.
